How to Read an AC Nameplate and Find the Right Spare Part
Ordering the wrong part costs a second visit and a second delivery. The cure is simple: read the labels first. Here is what to look for on an air conditioner and on its main parts.
The unit nameplate
Found on the outdoor unit and on the indoor unit, the nameplate lists the brand, the model, the serial number, the supply voltage and phase, the rated current and the refrigerant with its charge. Photograph it in good light. This single photo answers most compatibility questions.
Capacitor labels
A capacitor shows its capacitance in microfarads (µF) and its voltage rating, and a dual capacitor shows two values for the fan and the compressor. Match both values; the voltage of the new capacitor should not be lower than the old one. Browse capacitors once you have the numbers.
Fan motor labels
Look for the power (watts or HP), the speed in RPM, the voltage and the capacitor rating. Also measure the shaft diameter and length and note the direction of rotation. See fan motors.
Compressor labels
The compressor plate shows the model, the refrigerant, the voltage and phase and the capacity. If you are replacing a compressor, also check the pipe sizes and the mounting.
Contactors, sensors and boards
Contactors show their coil voltage and current rating, sensors their resistance at 25 °C, and control boards the board and model numbers. Photograph both sides of a board.
When the label is gone
Take clear photos of the old part from several angles, note any numbers stamped on it and send them with the unit's nameplate. We match the part from the photos.
Send it to us
Use the quotation request or WhatsApp to send the photos and numbers, and we reply with availability, price and delivery. For a full overview of what we supply, read our guide to AC spare parts in Oman, or open the AC spare parts shop and search by part number.
